Welcome to the website of the Irish Women Workers Union Commemoration Committee. The group is made up of a mixture of trade unionists, feminists, historians, some who are all three as well as others who are none but share a desire to have the work and achievements of the IWWU remembered and celebrated.
On these pages you can a read a little bit about the history of the union which was founded in 1911 and played a pivotal role in the momentous events of the Great Lockout two years later. There is also some information on the work of the committee and the projects it is pursuing to mark the history of the union and the centenary of its involvement in the lockout.
For those who are interested there are also some pointers regarding how to get in touch with us and support our work. We look forward to hearing from you.
